S/S '13 Trend 4: Denim Craze
Hi my lovelies, hope you are doing well! This is the second to last post on the S/S '13 trend series. We are nearly nearing the end now!
In this post I wanted to mention denim as one of the key trends for the season. Firstly, because denim has been intricately reworked not only in the classic jeans, but there has been denim dresses, jackets and shirts which have been given a new modern twist. Secondly, the denim for S/S '13 is very light, causal and easy to wear. I think for the cool breezy spring days and the hotter summer days which we are quite nicely approaching into in England, finding comfortable denim jeans which are light and won't make you all hot and horrible in the day are essential; equally as important is having a classic denim jacket in your wardrobe. And we can't go without a good classic denim shirt for any time in the year. For me, investing in these three denim pieces especially around this time of the year is perfect, because it tends to happen that the denim shirts and jackets in particular are made from a lighter and softer denim than perhaps those that you find in A/W for example.
I practically live in my jeans, like seriously, which means I am always on the hunt for a pair of jeans which are the one. They must fit the following requirements for them to enter my wardrobe. a) super comfy, b) extra skinny, tight - because when they give, jeans tend to loosen and stretch and I don't like the look of a pair of jeans which are baggy around the knees and ankle and c) Long length, preferably L32 - I like my jeans to be slightly longer so that they have a ruched - type effect near the ankles or when I want to roll them up I can do so without them looking like they are way to small for me. Although, I am a girl who's all for a pair of tight fit skinny jeans over anything else - a new style as emerged. The boyfriend fit. A looser, more casual, some could even say (no doubt more comfy than a skinny would be) more comfier, but also perhaps defining 'sexy' in a pair of jeans?
Linked down below are some options for the new summer boyfriend fit -
Warehouse Distressed Boyfriend Jeans
River Island Boyfriend Jeans
New Look Light Blue Ripped Boyfriend Jeans
ASOS Slim Leg Vintage Wash with Rips Boyfriend Jeans
A chambray shirt in the summer is a must. Layered over a maxi, or if you are brave enough to work the double denim trend like Rihanna or Sarah Jessica Parker then go for it. Whatever you choose, a denim shirt will be a key interchangeable piece in your wardrobe that you will be guaranteed to pull out time and time again. Some choices to get you started -
As the name suggested this is a style which will suit all and will not date:
Warehouse Authentic Western Shirt
Forever 21 Long line Chambray Shirt
ASOS Only Shoulder Studded Shirt
And last, but by no means least. The famous denim jacket. With my own experience in the past, I was always afraid to get a denim jacket because I was scared of it looking old fashioned and almost manly. This is why I think its important that when choosing a denim jacket, you choose one that fits around the waist. I personally think that a cropped denim jacket works a lot better for the womanly figure because one that is longer can tend to swamp the figure, hence giving a masculine and broad physique. Rolled up sleeves give a trendier and relaxed feel to a jacket, but as always the choice is yours! Again, here are some choices for you to have browse through -
New Look Blue Crop Denim Jacket
Boohoo Emma Dip Dye Denim Jacket
Asos = Only Denim Western Jacket
Warehouse Western Denim Jacket
As always, I thank you for taking the time to read my posts. I hope you have enjoyed reading it as much as I have enjoyed writing it. I apologize for it being late once again, just haven't had the time. If you have any comments, thoughts, suggestions or requests please leave them down below and I will reply to you as soon as possible.
Much Love,
B xx

S/S '13 Trend 3: Colours for the Season
Although we've seen monochrome taking over the runways, spring/summer would be absolutely incomplete without some sort of colour! A summer without colour? I don't think so!
Every year, there is always some kind of stand out colour that we all become obsessed with for spring and summer. And by the looks of it, the stand out colour for 2013 has got to be YELLOW! Neon, pastel, print, subtle, whatever form it has taken, yellow has been absolutely everywhere! I can't seem to get enough of it myself.
Whether it be a yellow top, dress or even skirt, (don't forget a pop of yellow would look great in your accessories too), you have to purchase it! (well... you don't HAVE to do anything...but you gotta have yellow in your wardrobe LOL)
Some GREAT yellow pieces:
Oasis Lace Yellow Top - ideal with dark wash blue jeans & white blazer. The perfect ensemble.
Coast La Mamounia Dress - please can I have somewhere to go to, to wear this gorgeous dress? Please?
Zara Basic Clutch Bag - A nice pop of colour to any sort of outfit. Team it with a monochrome look. Killing two birds with one stone. Boo-ya!
Boohoo Loren Neon Toe Cap & Perspex Shoes - Might not to be everyone's cup of tea, but these are super trendy and will really off set an outfit.
If you aren't a fan of the colour yellow, don't worry coral has also had its fair share in the spotlight, along with blues like turquoise and cobalt and garden grass green.
My top 5 colour picks of S/S '13 - in order of preference
Other Colour Alternatives:
Ted Baker Green Full Length Pleated Maxi Dress - I am in LOVEE with this maxi dress- It is absolutely gorgeous, and it also comes in a powder blue shade option. It is the perfect summer maxi dress that would be ideal for a fancy wedding, holidays or even something as casual as a get together meal. I just adore it & I need it. Right now.
Asos Premium Bib Necklace - Perfect for that splash of colour to any outfit. Timeless. Gorgeous. Easy to wear. Suits anyone. What more could you ask for from a statement necklace?
Whistles Wild Grass Print Dress - I love the style of this dress and the way it has been made. It has a relaxed fit and is exactly one of those dresses you can take through day to night. Sandals in the day and wedges for those summer nights.
Asos Cobalt Blue Shirt - gotta love a blue shirt.
To be honest, you are free to choose whatever colour you want to wear which suits you best, these colours of the seasons are ones that have been sported on the runways and are rife in all the stores at the moment. If you're looking to be on trend then I think investing in some of these colours would give you some great options for different types of outfits! We can all do with a bit of colour in our lives!
I hope you have enjoyed this instalment for the S/S '13 trend series. If you have any comments, thoughts, suggestions, ideas or requests please leave them down below! I would love to see what you all have thought of this series of posts and if you would like to see similar ones in the future. As always I thank you for taking the time out to read my post! Stay tuned for the fourth instalment which will be up soon!
Much Love,

S/S '13 Trend 2: Monochrome
By far the biggest trend of 2013 has been monochrome. Every high street store has got some sort of monochrome items in stock, the trend having been so popular on the runways. From Jean Paul Gaultier, Marc Jacobs and Ralph Lauren, this spring/summer designers have gone crazy in bringing back, perhaps the most undated trend of all time.
This has got to be MY most favourite trend for this season. Not only can anyone pull off the monochrome look, but you will be guaranteed that any items you purchase over the coming months you will most likely be able to wear for a good few seasons after.
The thing that makes the monochrome trend of '13 so different from previous ones, is having a new approach to styling black and white items together. The easiest option is always a monochrome dress which near enough any high street store you go to will have had as part of their collections. From shoes, bags, dresses and accessories, monochrome will be the only think taking over your wardrobe for a long time to come.
To channel this trend, it would be ideal to have the following separates which you can mix and match, - a crisp white relaxed collar button up shirt (Zara and Hollister do the best ones), a pair of form- fitting skinny (or bootleg if you prefer a looser fit) black jeans, cropped black and/or white trousers, a stripy black and white fitted skirt ( an A-line fit or midi jersey fit), a black/white striped maxi dress for those hot summer days, A standard white and/or black blazer and a pair of black/white colour block heels. These separates you will be able to pair with anything and most likely you will already some form of these already.
Some pieces which I have been loving for this trend are:
Karen Millen Polka Dot Dress
Karen Millen Beaded Collar Blouse
New Look Monochrome Striped Maxi Dress
Topshop Monochrome Mini Dress
Oasis Striped Tee
Warehouse Contrast Panel Jacket
H&M Knee Length Striped Dress
Faith Oversized Monochrome Studded Bag
Carvela for Kurt Geiger Cream Peep Toe Heels
Aldo Colour Block Heels
The above are only some suggestions which would be great pieces that would work for anyone. The H&M Knee Length striped dress is a great thrown dress that is affordable and can be dressed up or down. I have been selective in choosing these items so that you will be able to work them around what you already in your wardrobe. This is one of the easiest trends that you can rock for this spring/summer, however if you would like to see a post on how to style the monochrome trend for the spring and summer months AND how carry it through to autumn/winter please leave your comments down below.
As always I hope you have enjoyed the second trend for this series. If you have any comments, thoughts, suggestions, requests or ideas please leave them down below. I will reply to you as soon as. Thank you once again.
Much Love,
B xx

S/S '13 Trend 1: White Accessories
So first up for the S/S '13 trends is white accessories! I'm talking, in particular about white bags! Whether it be a tote, a satchel, or a bowler, a white bag is your key staple for spring and summer! Not only will it add a fresh and modern twist to your outfit, but a white bag will carry you through as a investment for the future. The neutral colour works with anything, even black (that's a another post!) and allows you to add a pop of colour in another accessory for your outfit. I recently picked up my own white staple from Aldo. A Hermes - esque croc-print, with a gold padlock. The thing I love about this one is the size! I have always preferred a bigger sized bag (theory #1 - the bigger the bag the smaller your frame!) because I like to just shove my bag full of everything! I feel this one really dresses up a causal outfit, because of the subtle croc - print. It has a patent finish, which means that you don't have to worry about it getting it dirty. If you are one of those people that worries about having a white bag will be hard to keep clean, a patent finish option is always the best. You don't need to worry about keeping the colour as new, because patent does not tend to catch colour that may rub off from other clothing. The handles are big enough for you to fit them on your shoulder, but I prefer to just have it hanging in the crease of my elbow. When I brought this bag, it was priced at £40.00, it has now gone in the sale and is £37.98 > http://www.aldoshoes.com/uk/handbags/shoulder-bags-totes/product/85883147-stellfox/71 so grab it while you can!
Here are just some picture of mine...

If you aren't a fan of a bigger bag or don't want to spend as much on a bag just for spring/summer, here are some other options that may like...

H&M CONSCIOUS Collection Haul!
Hi my lovelies, hope you are doing well!! If you've popped by into H&M recently you may have seen the face of Vanessa Paradis for the new Conscious Collection. I actually first saw this on the tv advert, and just fell in love instantly!! So, I had to pick up a few items from the collection. It was the green maxi dress that I wanted most, but as usual I ended up more than I intended on!
So I picked up this beautiful Maxi Dress - I love the green floral print and its quite long so if you want to wear it with heels you can do. The price was - £19.99
Second I picked up these white printed green floral trousers. These are so flattering on, and have a very nice tapered fit. They are also super comfortable and will be great in the summer, if we get some lovely weather in the UK - fingers crossed!
These were abit more pricy - but I reckon that was because of the printed effect on the trousers. They were priced at £29.99

Lastly, I couldn't resist this beautiful lime top, because I just adore the colour. Again, I think it is so summery, and we can all do with abit of colour in our wardrobe, right? It has a loose fit, and the scallop trim is so girly and feminine. How could anyone not want this in their wardrobe?! Gorgeous!
The price of this was £14.99
Hope you liked this post girlies, as always let me know what you think. If you have any questions, suggestions, thoughts, comments or queries - please leave them down below and I will get back to you as soon as!
I had planned to get this post up earlier, but didn't get the chance to finish it off - so sorry it was late! I think most places still have the collection in stock and on display if you want to check it out!
Much Love,
B xx
